Bringing
It All Together
Today,
being a stylish groom has a lot to do with what's worn underneath the jacket.
The choice of ties, vests, cufflinks and cummerbunds is the key to pulling it
all together. Have fun with accessories - - the right accessories can turn a
nice suit into a great ensemble
Increasing in popularity are tuxedos with long (not bow) ties (also called the
Windsor tie). Wear a classic tie with your tux, to create a more casual -- yet
still elegant -- wedding look. You can also wear an Ascot tie with your tux.
This wide, formal tie is usually patterned, folded over, and fastened with a
stickpin or tie tack. It is usually reserved for ultra-formal daytime weddings
and worn with a cutaway coat and striped gray trousers.
Also known as waistcoats, vests are a good way to personalize your suit. Vests come
in a variety of styles, ranging from plain weave, stripes and geometrics, to
floral, paisley, herringbone and basket weave patterns. Vests may include a
variety of lapels, including a notched collar or a shawl collar, and come in an
assortment of colors. Because it is important to still look put-together when
you take the jacket off, a continuing trend is the full black vest. The popular
six-button vest features a full cut back and higher front, making for a stylish
photograph with or without the jacket.
Cuff
links are tiny flourishes that can make a big statement. You can go with a
classic silver square, or again take an opportunity to express yourself. Many
Jewelrys will custom design cufflinks to your personal tastes, or you can look
around for ones that suit your style.
Above
all, don't forget a pair of stylish, -- and comfortable -- shoes! If you're
wearing a tuxedo, you'll need a simple yet elegant patent leather shoe. Most
guy's renting a tuxedo rent shoes as well, but don't worry rental tuxedo shoes
have gotten far more comfortable and attractive over the years.
